This week, there is no list of weekly events. The list will return next week. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t many literary events occurring all across Greater Los Ángeles. The community is still in the middle of literary festival season, with the Biggest Little Zine Fair taking place in Long Beach this Sunday, the last weekend of the Fifth Annual Pomona Poetry and Book Fest at the Pomona Fairgrounds this Saturday and Sunday, and several more literary festivals occurring throughout June. Below are a few highlights.

TDSB: The Definitive Soapbox Open Mic & Featured Poets: Micah Bournes & Beth May at The Nest: A Brunch Joint – In-Person Event
This monthly Open Mic is usually held on the last Friday, but moves to the last Thursday instead, for the month of May only. Don’t pull up on the wrong night! We still want to hear your poems.
This month we’re honored to feature Micah Bournes, known for his thoughtful storytelling and powerful spoken word performances, alongside Beth May, whose work blends humor, vulnerability, and emotional honesty in a way that stays with you long after the poem ends.

Celebrate at the Inland Empire Pride Fest 2026 with Cellar Door Bookstore at White Park, Riverside – In-Person Event
Celebrate the Inland Empire Pride Festival 2026 on Saturday May 30th from 12:00pm to 9:00pm at White Park in Downtown Riverside! Cellar Door Bookstore will have a booth at the festival, but you can also catch our Drag Queens Kelly K and Scalene OnyxXx leading a storytime at 2:00pm.
Then at 3:30pm, Justine Pucella Winans (Bianca Torre is Afraid of Everything), Shelly Page (Charmed and Dangerous),and Zachary Sergi (Love and Video Games)will join Jesse Gasca Rebollar from Cellar Door Bookstore in a panel discussion exploring the concept of Queer joy as a powerful form of resistance, emphasizing how Queer representation in fiction should go beyond struggle and celebrate authentic happiness and diverse narratives. It highlights the impact of seeing Queer characters experience joy in stories, challenging historical erasure and censorship, and affirming the importance of inclusive storytelling.
You can buy copies of their books here at our store before the festival to make sure you get a copy, but we’ll have stock at our booth in the festival (while supplies last!) and the authors will be signing after the panel!
