Los Angeles Literature Events: 12/15/25 – 12/21/25
Another successful and productive year of building literary community in Greater Los Angeles is winding down. In the face of the Palisades and Eaton fires that destroyed local writers’ homes and communities, the ICE raids that continue to target our fellow brown and immigrant writers, to the funding cuts for the arts, the local literary community continued to foster connections by hosting events, publishing and celebrating book releases, winning awards, and coming together in solidarity against ICE targeting our friends, family and neighbors. From the Heart of a Writer to the Heart of the World
Former Los Angeles Poet Laureate Luis J. Rodriguez preserves the rich, early literary history of L.A.’s Eastside from 1978 to 1984. Alongside writers such as Helena Maria Viramontes, Mary Helen Ponce, and Manazar Gamboa, among others, he helped build the Chicano/a/Latinx literary community that continues to flourish in Los Ángeles today.
