Red Hen Press will host the RHP Virtual Fall Book Tour series, a virtual reading and conversation series, celebrating the releases of the RHP Fall 2020 season. Check site for details.

Reema Rajbanshi is the author of the book SUGAR, SMOKE, SONG, nine linked stories set in many locations, and crossing many genres and rules to arrive at unforeseen lives. She is a creative and critical writer whose short fiction explores the contours of girlhood, violence, immigration, and landscape through semi-experimental forms. Her collection won the 2015 Maurice Prize Fiction contest, among others. She currently teaches at Haverford College.

Lara Ehrlich is the author of Animal Wife, a short story collection of 15 stories of girls and women seeking liberation from family responsibilities, societal expectations, and their own minds. It was selected as the winner of the Red Hen Fiction Award by New York Times bestselling author Ann Hood, who says the book “made [her] dizzy with its exploration and illumination of the inner and outer lives of girls and women.” She lives in Boston, MA with her family.

Tracy Dougherty is the author of several books of fiction and nonfiction, including The Last Love Song:  A Biography of Joan Didion. His short stories and essays have appeared in many journals, and his book HIGH SKIES recounts the collision of devastating weather, Cold War suspicion, tense race relations, and the unintended consequences of good intentions in a small West Texas town in the 1950s, changing the futures of families there, and altering their perceptions of America. Recalling the writings of Dennis Johnson and Larry McMurtry, this novel is a perfectly distilled American epic.

David Hajdu & Adrianne Geffel: A Fiction via Book Soup – Crowdcast Online Event

Join music critic, professor, and author David Hajdu to hear him discuss his new book, Adrianne Geffel: A Fiction. There will be a performance of scenes from the book, featuring actors Linda Mancini and Tony Torn, followed by a discussion of the book with the author.

Adrianne Geffel was a genius, a one-of-a-kind artist, pianist and composer, with a rare neurological condition that enabled her to make music that was nothing less than pure, unmediated emotional expression. She and her sensibility are now fully integrated into the cultural lexicon. But what do we really know about her?

This is a brilliantly funny satire, with characters that leap off the page, and the book is a vividly twisted evocation of the NYC avant-garde of  the 1970s and ‘80s. Hadju has us believing every note of it!
