List of Weekly Events Back Next Week

By Brian Dunlap

This week there will be no list of weekly literary events. Los Angeles Literature is taking its summer break. The list will be back next week. However, there are still many literary events to attend and local writers to see read.

There are readings, open mics and workshops such as: An evening to celebrate Aruni Wijesinghe’s release of 2 Revere Place, with readings by David Rocklin & Natalie J. Graham at Chevalier’s Books, Tuesday the 9th, at 7pm; Book Soup presents FlowerSong Press night featuring Matt Sedillo, Luivette Resto, Iris De Anda, Briana Muñoz, and David A. Romero, Thursday the 11th, 7pm; Trenches Full of Poets: Live Readings by Three SoCal Poets at Page Against the Machine, Thursday the 11th, 7pm; VoiceWaves – Intro to the Mechanics of Poetry at Compound in Long Beach, Saturday the 13th, 12pm-2pm, taught by Jireh Deng (they/them), a queer Taiwanese / Hong Konger American poet and journalist born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley; Philippine Expressions Bookshop presents Uprooted Identities: Where is Home? A Book Talk featuring Lutie Orteza Lee and Benjamin Long in San Pedro, Saturday the 13th, 3pm-6pm; and Obsidian Tongues at Café con Libros Press, Saturday the 13th, 7:30pm-9pm, among many others.

Get out there in-person or virtually L.Á. and support your local literary community!
