20102_10151304646867936_350037825_nThe Poetry Salon has released the six episode of its Poetry Saloncast. This episode’s interview is with local poet Alexis Rhone Fancher, whose work has been described as blazing and frank and her submissions regimen ambitious. Fancher discusses her work-ethic and her ability to detach herself from her writing, even when writing about very personal subjects.

Fancher’s been called an “erotic” poet and says she uses sex in her writing to explore power, to “Write for women who are like her,” the description of the Podcast states and encourages others to share their own stories.

Alexis Rhone Fancher’s latest collection is the chapbook The Dead Kid Poems (KYSO Flash, 2019), a departure from the themes and ideas she’s known for. The chapbook chronicles the all-to-familiar stories of youth mowed down by circumstances: school shootings, drive-bys, suicides, overdose, accidents, disease, all relevant. She’s always buy at work on her next collection.

The Poetry Saloncast is hosted by Tresha Faye Haefner and Kelly Grace Thomas who interview their favorite poets and poet entrepreneurs, focusing on the creative process and the little-understood techniques of editing a poem to a finished piece. Previous episodes feature local poets Arminé Iknandossian and Doug Manuel. Click here to listen to episode six.
