Los Angeles Literature Events: 9/14/20 – 9/20/20

UNMUTE! is a month-long generative workshop for writers at all levels. Each week, participants will meet LIVE with poet and writer Brendan Constantine for ninety minutes, to discuss and explore approaches to poetry and discover ways to practice perpetual astonishment. Each class will end with at least one “no pressure” assignment, designed to liberate your own style. Dates of workshop: Sept. 14th, 21st, 28th, and Oct, 5th.

Join us for a Moon Tide Press Reading by three authors:

Alexis Rhone Fancher, is the author of: How I Lost My Virginity to Michael Cohen, State of Grace: The Joshua Elegies, Enter Here and Junkie Wife. Her photographs are published worldwide, and she is a multiple Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee. She is also poetry editor of Cultural Weekly.

Ron Koertge taught English and Creative Writing at Pasadena City College for 37 years. He has published more than 25 books of poetry and fiction, most recently: Vampire Planet, Yellow Moving Van, and Coaltown Jesus. He is also 2018 Poet Laureate of South Pasadena, California.

Lee Rossi is the author of four books of poetry: Darwin’s Garden, Wheelchair Samurai, Ghost Diary, and Beyond Rescue.

Please join us for Conchas y Café, a program offered by the nonprofit, DSTL Arts, a 10-week creative writing class, offered in English and Spanish for adults of all ages Participants learn new techniques in poetry, storytelling, and zine-making throughout the 10-week series, and also have the opportunity to publish and present their work in the Conchas y Café Zine, a quarterly anthology of writing produced through this program. A public reading and release party celebrates the culmination of each series
