Ryan Gattis at Skylight Books 4/8

Author Ryan Gattis reads from his newest novel, “All Involved: A Novel of the 1992 L.A. Riots.” It’s a novel set in the chaotic streets of South Central L.A. in the wake of one of the most notorious and incendiary trials of the 1990s. It’s set in a sliver of Los Angeles largely ignored by the media during the riots. Ryan Gattis tells this story in seventeen interconnected first-person narratives. He lectures at Chapman University and lives in Los Angeles.

Avenue 50 Studio Presents En la Memoria de Michele Serros

Come celebrate the works of Southern California author Michele Serros at Avenue 50 Studios in Highland Park on March 21. Hailing from Oxnard, California, Michele Serros drew on her life experiences and much of her works gave voice to the complexities of lives straddling two worlds: working-class Mexican American heritage and southern California pop culture. She described how she never quite fit in through poems and prose that were both poignant and hilarious.  Continue reading “Avenue 50 Studio Presents En la Memoria de Michele Serros”
