No List of Weekly Literary Events

As 2025 comes to a close, there will not be a list of local literary events for the reaminder of the year. This does not mean there are no literary events occuring between now and the first full week of 2026. On the contrary. There are still a few.

Literary events always provide the community with spaces for connection and dialogue, cultural expression and shared learning. They help community members feel seen and heard, connected, and empowered, contributing to a more close-knit community. The following few events do just that.

Dark Olympus Book Club – In-Person Event

Join us for book talks and brews as we read our way through Dark Olympus!

Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series is a spicy collection of standalone dark romance books inspired by different Greek mythology tales.

Whether you read all, some, or none of the books, all are welcome!

Colbalt Poets Presents Kevin Ridgeway – Zoom Event

The Virtual Cobalt Poets series happens via Zoom every Tuesday night at 7:30pm (pacific).

Each evening includes an open reading plus a featured reader. Sign up for the open reading when you join with Zoom.

Kevin Ridgeway is the author of Too Young to Know (Stubborn Mule Press, 2019), Invasion of the Shadow People (Luchador Press, 2022) and Death of the Coppertone Girl (Luchador Press, 2025), in addition to over a dozen chapbooks and split books. His work has appeared in Hiram Poetry Review, New York Quarterly, Paterson Literary Review, Gargoyle, Slipstream, Chiron Review, Nerve Cowboy, Heavy Feather Review, San Pedro River Review and Trailer Park Quarterly, among others. A Pushcart and Best of the Net nominee, he lives and writes in Long Beach, CA.

The People’s Mic – In-Person Event

Join The People’s Mic at Legacy Library on December 27th. Refreshments provided. $5 suggested donation, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. After costs, all money goes to support the venue and their liberation work. The hosts W. Yusef DoucetTasha Thomas and Tichina can’t wait to see you there. Until then, peace, love, and liberation.
