New Moves for SALIMA Magazine

By Feminist Center for Creative Work

SALIMA Magazine began at the Feminist Center for Creative Work in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project was born of the desire to stay connected to community during a time when isolation became the norm, racial bias was silencing Black voices in digital spaces, and a certain kind of public interest in anti-Black violence felt fashionable. We are proud to have produced and released Issue 01: Emergence and Issue 02: Unplugging, which was supported by a grant from the California Arts Council, and to have begun work on a third issue around food and nourishment.

While FCCW still resonates deeply with the mission and intentions of the magazine, we are no longer able to sustain the regular production and sale of a print magazine of this quality. However, Salima will continue to carry out her beautiful vision for this magazine with the support of Madin Lopez at ProjectQ. As of Summer 2022, Issues 01 and 02 of SALIMA Magazine will be available for sale and wholesale through ProjectQ, as will all future issues, merch, and iterations of the magazine.
