Due to the passing of my grandmother last week, at the age of 95, there will be no list of weekly events for this upcoming week. That doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of literary events to attend and local writers to support.
- Tomorrow, at 6pm at Chevalier’s Books in Larchmont featuring FlowerSong and Alegria press authors such as Briana Muñoz and Jean-Pierre Rueda.
- The Mic at Micky’s, an LGBTQ+ open mic, takes place on Tuesday, Hosted by West Hollywood Poet Laureate Brian Sonia-Wallace, Nate Lovell and Tony Moore at Micky’s in Weho at 6pm.
- On Wednesday is Flight School Open Mic at 8pm at 630 N. La Brea Ave., in celebration of their open mic founder and weekly co-host Osmith.
- Also on Wednesday is Black Single Womanhood: Contributor Conversation at Salt Eaters Bookshop at 7pm, featuring several contributors from the anthology Sex & The Single Woman edited by Eliza Smith and Haley Swanson.
- On September 2nd San Francisco Poet Laureate Tongo-Eisen-Martin is the feature at S.W.A.A.M. at 8pm at Park Hills Community Center.
- September 3rd, poet Brenda Vaca will feature in celebration of Jonathan Santa Maria, the Gothic Poet, at 6pm at the Sage Restaurant and Lounge in Whittier.
These are just a few of the many literary events taking place this week all around SoCal. Los Angeles Literature’s List of Weekly Events will return next week. As always, get out there in person or virtually Los Ángeles and support the local literary community!
