Pik-Shuen Fung, with Megha Majumdar, & Ghost Forest via Skylight Bookstore – Live Online Event
Join author Pik-Shuen Fung, in conversation with Megha Majumdar, to hear them discuss her debut novel, Ghost Forest.
This novel asks the question, How do your grieve, if your family doesn’t talk about feelings? The protagonist asks this question after her father dies. He was a so-called “astraunaut” father, staying in Hon Kong to work while the rest of the family immigrated to Canada prior to the 1997 Handover, when the British returned sovereignty to China.
Buoyant and heartbreaking, this is a slim novel that envelopes the reader with joy and sorrow. It layers detail and abstraction, weaving memory and oral history to paint a moving portrait of a Chines Canadian astronaut family.
