Beyond Baroque Presents: Write Effort: Creative Writing Through a Buddhist Lens, by Noel Alumit

Author, instructor and facilitator Noel Alumit leads a six-week writing workshop on Zoom online, Write Effort: Creative Writing Through a Buddhist Lens, from May 23 – June 27.

WRITE Effort grew out of Noel Alumit’s studies in Buddhist divinity school, and is a play on words referring to the Right Effort, the sixth of the Noble Eightfold Path. By using Buddhist concepts he addresses the creative process of storytelling: character development, plot, conflict, dialogue, structure.

Noel Alumit is the author of the novels Letters to Montgomery Clift and Talking to the Moon, and his work has been published in numerous journals. He has taught creative writing for UCLA Extension’s Writers Program since 2005 and has been a literary host at Skylight Books for nearly 20 years.
