Amind the rapidly changing living conditions surrounding the Coronavirus, there are no in-person literary events happening this week and into the near future. No gatherings of over 10 people are permitted, the White House now recommends.
However, there might be some live-streamed events happening this week that might be of interest. To find out I would suggest staying up to date with local writers via Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram or checking Facebook Events.
I know it’s been suggested many times on social media in the last 3-5 days, but now with the various quarantines and people telecommuting and businesses being closed, there is more time than ever for people to read. If you need any recommendations check out Los Angeles Literature’s list, The Books,
literature set in or about L.A. Plus, if you need to buy books, Vroman’s in Pasadena is offering $.99 shipping on all online purchases made by residents of L.A. County. Check with the other local independent bookstores about purchasing books online as a way to support them and the community they create (literary events they host) during this time of social distancing.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy and can use this down time to relax, rejuvenate and sink back into literature, to use its power to connect you to other people and their powerful and necessary stories.
