FB_IMG_1566526026594Join Sideshow Books and host L.A. poet Brian Dunlap as they celebrate L.A.’s 238th brithday, with a night of L.A. poetry. It will take place on September 4th, from 7pm-9pm.

In a city and region famous for compelling people to write and explain L.A. to the world, four L.A. poets–Matt Sedillo, Mike Sonksen, Amy Uyematsu and Traci Kato-Kiriyama–will speak to the evening’s question: How has L.A. helped shape who you are today? and then read their own L.A. poems. Afterwords there will be an open mic where others will answer the evenings question and read 1-2 L.A. poems of their own or a poem or two from their favorite L.A. poet.

Sideshow Books serves the greater Los Ángeles community with its deep inventory of titles, as well as a robust schedule of cultural programming. The 2,700 sq. ft. interior and cozy back patio provides ample space for browsing, exploring, enjoying coffee or experiencing one of their evening readings, workshops or screenings.

Plus, support the features. Host Brian Dunlap is the author of the chapbook Concrete Paradise (Finishing Line Press, 2018), Mike Sonksen Letters To My City (Writ Large/The Accomplices, 2019), Amy Uyematsu The Yellow Door (Red Hen Press, 2015) and Stone Bow Prayer (Copper Canyon Press, 2005) among others and Matt Sedillo and Traci Kato-kiriyama both have forthcoming books, so stay tuned.
