L.A.’s Not A Cult Press Teams Up With Echo Park’s Stories Books & Cafe

FB_IMG_1559097544460Yesterday, L.A.’s Not A Cult Press announced on its Facebook page that Stories Books & Cafe has teamed up with them to sponsor their annual poetry submissions award. The award will now be called the Stories Award for Poetry. The winner gets a cash prize of $1,000 and a publishing deal with Not A Cult.

Not A Cult is a local L.A. publishing house founded three years ago. They work closely with their authors and artists to create beautiful, intentional publications that enrich the audiences that read them. They work with writers who are at the forefront of their communities, championing their cultural heritage and challenging societal structures.

Stories Books & Cafe is a bookstore and cafe based in Echo Park. It hosts many author readings and other literary events. It’s open Monday – Thursday, 8am – 11pm and Friday and Saturday, 8am – 12am.

The 2019 Stories Award for Poetry will open for submissions on August 1, 2019. Plus, congratulations to this years winner Sheila Sadr for her manuscript Birthday Girl, to be published in 2020.
