Samuel Park & The Caregiver at Book Soup

David Antin Event at the Hammer Museum
Please join us to celebrate David Antin: Talking, Always Talking, co-presented by LACMA and MCASD. In 1987 and 1988, poet, artist, and critic David Antin (1932-2016) used sky-typing planes to produce two Sky Poems over the skies of California. On September 29, the poems will appear again over the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
On September 27, coinciding with this historic restaging, a group of poets, artists and scholars will convene to commemorate Antin and his legacy, including: Eleanor Antin, Julien Bismuth, Aram Moshayedi, Marjorie Perloff, and Jerome Rothenberg.

David Williams loves a good algorithm when he sees one, especially of the cosmic variety. He has travelled the world, but mothing prepared him for L.A., where he has learned about connection, the greatest gift of all.
Doug Knot has been writing and performing poetry in Southern California for more than 20 years. He has been published widely and included in several anthologies, such as Grand Passion: Poets of Los Angeles and Beyond. He is the author of one collection, Small Dogs Bark Cartoons, and many chapbooks.
Conney Williams is a poet, actor, community activist, and performance artist with two collections: Leaves of Spilled Spirit from an Untamed Poet (2002) and Blues Red Soul Falsetto (2012). In 2015 he released two CDs of his poetry accompanied by music. He is the former artistic director of the Anansi Writers Workshop, and his poems have been widely published in many journals.
Jon Hess is a writer and New Yorker who calls L.A. home. He makes his living as a filmmaker, most notably for American History X for which Edward Norton was nominated for an Academy Award. He is also a teacher, educator and speaker, and served as filmmaker-in-residence at both the Vancouver Film School and Emerson College for over a decade.

B.A.Williams is a queer writer and performer from East Long Beach. Her prose and poetry have a heavy emphasis on all things other, womanhood, motherhood, and queerness.
Shuyu Cao is an L.A.-based filmmaker and poet, who grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In addition to southern culture, she finds inspiration in Chinese poetry, literature, and films.
Leesa Fenderson’s work has appeared in several journals, and she was a finalist in Paper Darts’ Short Fiction contest. She is an attorney and teacher, and a Jamaican immigrant from New York. She is currently in USC’s Creative Writing and Literature Program.
Mark Maza is a Pilipino-American writer from Orange County, CA who grew up between Tondo, Manila and Westminster, CA. He has received fellowships from Community Literature Initiative (CLI), VONA, and the Master Class in Poetry at the PEN Center. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Fight Evil With Poetry, FreezeRay Poetry, Kelly Writer’s House, Bow, among other publications and anthologies. 2018 LAMBDA Lit Fest Launch at JANM
Please join us for the launch of the 2018 Lambda Lit Fest Los Angeles, a week-long celebration of contemporary voices honoring and expanding on the rich, diverse tradition of LGBTQIA writers and readers in the Southland.
Join us for a full day of programming, featuring panels, talks, and readings—and low-cost workshops—for festival attendees.
The program begins with the workshop, A Big Queer Reading Round Robin, featuring: Rocio Carlos, Yazmin Monet Watkins, and Terry Wolverton, at 11 am – 12:45 pm.
