Please join us to hear author Riley Perez discuss and sign, What Is Real: The Life and Crimes of Darnell Riley. Author and teacher Peter Conti will be monitoring the event, which is also a publication party.
On January 22, 2004, Darnell Riley broke into the home of Girls Gone Wild founder, Joe Francis, where he filmed a blackmail video, and arranged for payment so that the video didn’t go viral. This book explores the nine years he spent in custody, his life sharing facilities with Charles Manson and gang leaders, and where he confronts the question of which version he sees of himself is real: the young kid known to his friends and family, or the man who pleaded guilty to robbery and attempted extortion. This memoir takes a cold, hard look at a life of crime, the toll it takes, the reality of life inside California’s prisons, and the price paid by all involved.

Please join us to welcome author Kristan Higgins, in conversation with Kara Warner, to discuss her book, Good Luck with That.
Emerson, Georgia and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one last wish for her beat friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. As Marley and Georgia grow stronger, the real meaning of her wish becomes truly clear: to love themselves.
