This collection of essays, evocative photographs, profiles, and reportage are focused on L.A. beneath-the-surface, both in the past and in the present. She asks: what distinguishing features of the city remain deeply rooted? What are the lasting memories, the essential “after-images” upon which we reflect? Their post then would trigger a conspiracy that ended nearly a decade later with a $140 million judgment against Gawker, bankrupting the company and its CEO and founder Nick Denton, the demise of which was masterminded by Theil.
