The Rattle Reading Series at Flintridge Bookstore

This Rattle Reading Series event features Susan Cohen and Ananda Lima, who will read and discuss their work.

Susan Cohen is a recovering journalist, whose poem “After the Boston Marathon Bombing” appeared in Rattle’s Poets Respond series in May 2015, and then in her second full-length collection, A Different Wakeful Animal, winner of the Red Dragonfly Press’ Meadowhawk Prize and a runner-up for the Philip Levine Prize.

For nearly a decade Jae Jemc has been one of Chicago’s most active underground writers, and this is her first novel with a mainstream publisher. It’s narrated in alternating chapters by James and Julie Khoury, a millennial couple who have reluctantly migrated from the city to a quaint locale to buy their first home. Then their eccentric, elderly neighbor seems to be spying on them, and strange things start to happen.
