Cynthia Hogue, has published 13 books, eight of them collections of poetry. Revenance (Red Hen Press 2014) was listed as one of the “Standout” books by the Academy of Poets in 2014. Hogue holds the Maxine and Jonathan Marshall Chair in Modern and Contemporary Poetry at Arizona State University, and most recently is the author of a book-length serial poem titled In June the Labyrinth (2017).
David St. John is the author of nine books of poetry, and his most recent book is The Face: A Novella in Verse (2004). He is married to the poet Anna Journey and lives in Venice, CA.
Justin Jackson is a Los Angeles-based pianist/singer-songwriter whose roots are grounded in R&B and Hip/Hop, and who is originally from Chicago where he received his training. In 2013 he created a song, Chiraq, that was performed live at the “Depth of Black Arts Showcase”, and recently worked with James Franco on music for A Streetcar Named Desire, that was shown at Cal Arts.

La Palabra Reading Series at Avenue 50 Studio

Tisha Reichle is a Chicana feminist with an MFA from Antioch University. She is an organizing member of Women Who Submit and the fiction editor at Border Series. She is also a high school teacher beginning her PhD at USC.
Margaret Elysia Garcia is the author of two short story collections, and her newest chapbook is Recipes for Ascension. She is a reporter for Feather River Publishing.
Lauren Eggert-Crowe is the author of four poetry chapbooks. She is the Reviews Editor of Terrain.org and serves on the leadership team for Women Who Submit.
Ramona Pilar is the editor of the Claps and Cheers column for Women Who Submit and has an MFA from Antioch University. She works and writes in theatre and is the lead singer of an ‘80s tribute band, the Walkmans.

Heather Havrilesky is the author of How to Be a Person in the World, and the advice column “Ask Polly” for New York magazine.
