Clockshop Discussion of Octavia Butler at USC
Join us to hear award-winning filmmaker and the director of Clockshop, an arts organization that commissions and produces projects by artists and writers, Julia Meltzer. She will discuss Radio Imagination: Artists and Writers in the Archives of Octavia E. Butler, in partnership with the Huntington Library and the Armory Center for the arts in Pasadena.
Meltzer has directed two feature films, After Aleppo (forthcoming in 2017) and The Light in Her Eyes broadcast on the POV series on PBS in 2012. Butler was an award-winning, acclaimed science fiction writer, and author of Kindred and The Parable series among others, who received a MacArthur Fellowship. She died in 2006 at age 58.

Child Holocaust Survivors at Chevalier’s Bookstore
Produced by the Child Survivors of the Holocaust Los Angeles, the oldest Survivor group in the country, the book How We Survived: 52 Personal Stories by Child Survivors of the Holocaust, co-presented by CSHLA and LA Museum of the Holocaust, is a moving documentation of the individual experiences of children who were able to survive and then then find the courage to share their stories.
