Laurelin Kruse at Hammer Museum
Join us for In Real Life: Studio, which provides a glimpse into the working processes of artists. A select group of artists utilizes spaces in the museum to convene and rehearse new material. Some will simply discuss or workshop material, while others will produce a new project from rehearsal to final performance.
Laurelin Kruse is a writer and performer and has been traveling the country for two years as the founder and director of the Mobile Museum of American Artifacts, collecting and exhibiting people’s personal objects and stories as a public intervention of hierarchical paradigms.

Simone Leigh at Hammer Museum
Please join us as In Real Life: Performance, Bureau of Feminism welcomes Simone Leigh, who is joined by Rizvana Bradley, assistant professor of film and media studies and African-American studies at Yale, for a performative lecture on the final weekend of Leigh’s Hammer Project exhibition. Leigh and Bradley will engage in an improvisational exchange on black radical political, literary, and artistic traditions. Leigh’s recent work in social practice refers to historical instances where people, especially women of color, operated in secret to exchange knowledge, politically organize, and empower each other in the face of racial inequality.

Our Local Authors Day introduces three writers to present their work:
Stephen Dansiger, will discuss and sign Clinical Dharma: A Path for Healers & Helpers, which is the result of Dr. Steve’s over 25 years of experience with Buddhist mindfulness practice and as many years as an educator and a therapist.
Matthew Manos, will discuss and sign Toward a Preemptive Social Enterprise, a manifesto and series of essays, scenarios and tools that aim to challenge a constantly evolving industry to think bigger. Manos argues that the culture of innovation and the ability to program one’s business around critical causes may be one of the shortcomings of the field.
Tony Faggioli, will discuss and sign One in a Million, a novel. Kyle Fasano has it all: a good job, a living wife, two beautiful children and a house on the hill. But for one night at least it is not enough, and when he risks it all he discovers there are no simple temptations.
